"Good sanitation is the main key in improving the quality of public health," he asserted at RPTRA Budi Mulia, Pademangan Barat Urban Village, Tuesday (2/4).

This year, he expected all areas within North Jakarta are free from open defecation in order to realize a clean and healthy city.

"18 urban villages in Jakarta have declared to stop open defecation. Three urban villages have been declared free from Open Defecation, while the 15 others are still in process, one of them is in Pademangan Barat," he explained.

He appreciated the participation of Pademangan Barat residents and Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program that has built 55 septic tanks.

General Manager of PTbPLN Jakarta Distribution Main Unit (IUD), Lasiran hoped that through the company's contribution could bring significant benefits to the community by helping them realizing healthy sanitation.

"We continue providing assistance in various programs needed by the community, STBM is the first in here. We will look for other locations in need," he conveyed.

Meanwhile, Pademangan Barat Urban Village STBM Program Head, Dedi Permana mentioned that his side had completed 16 communal septic tanks and 39 independent septic tanks.

"There are 94 families who have benefited from this program. The septic tank construction was completed in less than a month," he added.

He wanted this program to be the first step towards a better future for Pademangan Barat Urban Village, as there are still 219 families who don't have septic tanks.

"Hopefully, all of them can be built so that our area can be free from open defecation," he said.
